It's official: the ultimate crown for authentic British comfort food belongs to San Diego.

In a massive nationwide search hosted by Old Speckled Hen—the UK's number one premium English Ale—over 160 British-style pubs across the country threw their aprons into the ring to see who serves the most authentic pub classic.

After narrowing the field down to five elite coastal finalists, British Brewmaster Ross O’Hara and Export Director Dave Patmore-Hill flew in straight from England to conduct a blind taste test right here on India Street. Evaluating batter consistency, perfect chip texture, and fish freshness, the judges officially crowned The Shakespeare Pub & Grille as the Undisputed Winner of the Best Fish & Chips in the U.S.
